5 Ingredients to add to your Smoothies

Want to rev up your morning smoothie? Here are a few ways to do it!

1. Wheat Germ

Contains Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that boosts immunity and has anti-aging properties. Wheat Germ can control LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and promote cardiovascular health. The Vitamin B boosts immunity and aids digestion.

2. Protein Powder

Protein has amino acids that are important for building and maintaining muscles. It also helps to fill you up. When you have a smoothie with all that fruit your blood sugar rises. The protein helps stabilize your blood sugar and keeps you from being HUNGRY 20 minutes after the smoothie.

3. Flax Seeds or Flaxseed Oil

Eases digestion, can help reduce cholesterol and it’s an effective natural laxative.

4. Psyllium Husks

These you only really find in a health food store BUT it’s basically what Metamucil is. It can help lower cholesterol, improve digestion, relieve constipation, and it ensures you get enough fiber in your daily diet.

5. Coconut Oil

This is my new addition to smoothies suggested by Nutritionist, Christi Matson at Thoughtful Nutrition. Coconut Oil assists in maintaining cholesterol levels, may promote weight loss, proper digestion and metabolism.
