Have you ever sat and thought you want to change something about your day, your self, your job, your health, your body, your life? I have a bucket list of all the things I’d like to do in my life. It includes the most simple of things such as fresh flowers every week in my kitchen table to the bigger dreams of spending a month in Tuscany. The thing is, you really can do anything you put your mind to.
The first step is simply deciding what the change is that you want to make and why. The reason should mean something to you that is personal, something you are in control of. We forget that we really do control our life. Outside things happen, a flat tire, an unforeseen doctors bill, but you control how you handle it, deal with it, and then move on from it.
If you want to lose weight to be able to fit into your jeans again then your first step is cleaning out your kitchen and filling your cupboards with wholesome foods. Then put on your sneakers and go for a walk. Yes, it’s that simple. The biggest obstacle of change is usually that we want it to have happened yesterday. We set goals, we make our plan, we enlist our support group and then for some reason we feel like it should be immediate. It takes 4-6 weeks for something to become a habit. Give yourself time to adjust, to succeed, and even time for setbacks because there will be setbacks. Plan for setbacks and then dust yourself off and get back up, you are worth it and you DO deserve it.
What do you want to change? How can you make the change? Who can help you? What are your obstacles?
In health and with grace,
